How to Get the Dockmaster's Detector in Arc Raiders
Before you can start scanning for treasure, you need to obtain a Dockmaster's Detector. This new gadget functions as a metal detector and can be acquired through several methods:
- Looting containers and other players (including during the Beachcombing condition)
- Accepting the Shoring Up Defenses quest
- Completing the first step of the Avian Alarm project by placing the bird trap
It's possible to find a Dockmaster's Detector blueprint to craft these gadgets, but the most reliable method remains hoping you get lucky while looting. Once you have the Dockmaster's Detector, equip it as a quick slot item in your loadout before entering a Beachcombing-enabled match on Riven Tide.
If you haven't unlocked the Dockmaster's Detector yet, consider heading to the shoreline anyway. You might come across a player who has one. While I can't recommend PvP, you could eliminate them and take their metal detector, or perhaps convince them to share.
How Beachcombing Works in Arc Raiders
Beachcombing is a unique map condition exclusive to the Riven Tide map, activating periodically as a normal matchmaking option for this location, similar to Bird City on Buried City. When Beachcombing is active, players can expect:
- Buried valuables
- Lootable Dockmaster's Detectors
- Increased amount of birds
The buried treasure spawns exclusively in the dried-up Seabed area in the north of Riven Tide. Equip your Dockmaster's Detector to track it down. Here's how to effectively beachcomb:
- Hold the Dockmaster's Detector and press the button to activate it, which drains your stamina.
- If treasure is nearby, it will beep and flash with an orange (or green) light. If not, move further along the beach.
- Follow the Dockmaster's Detector as it beeps and flashes faster as you approach the treasure.
- When very close, the detector will flash green.
- When directly above the treasure, the detector will hold a steady green light, prompting you to dig in the sand.
Digging up the marked location can yield various surprises, such as a bomb to disarm, Ticks that will attack you, and occasionally actual treasure. Players might find crafting materials, weapons like the Il Toro shotgun, or even toy boat trinkets needed for the Avian Alarm project and Last Resort event.
