Setting Up Friend Battles
Pokémon Champions is now available on Nintendo Switch, allowing players to challenge their friends to determine who reigns supreme. To start battling, you'll first need to add your friend to the game. Open the sub-menu from the home screen and view your user ID by pressing the X button on your Switch. Copy your ID and send it to your friend, or enter their ID directly to send a friend request. Once added, you're ready to battle.
Creating a Battle Room
To engage in friendly encounters, head to the Private Battles section where you can create a room. In this lobby, you can set the rules for your match before finalizing the room. After creating the room, remember to press the X button again to find the room ID. Share this ID with your friends so they can join your lobby and prepare for battle.
Understanding Match Rules
All matches conducted in your lobby will adhere to the rules you’ve established. Make sure to communicate these rules clearly to your friends to prevent any misunderstandings during your battles. It’s a great way to promote fair play and ensure everyone is on the same page.
Playing with Other Players
While you can easily battle with your friends, Pokémon Champions also allows you to challenge other players. This can be done using the same process of creating a lobby and sharing the room ID. The game encourages interaction and competition among all players, not just friends.
Local PvP Limitations
It’s essential to know that Pokémon Champions does not support local PvP play. Matches require a persistent internet connection, meaning you can only play with friends via the private room feature. Unfortunately, there’s currently no option for pre-made teams in duos to battle against other players, but this may change with future updates.
Future Updates
The developers at TPC are likely aware of the community's desire for more features, including the ability to form teams for duo battles. As such, players remain hopeful that upcoming updates will expand the gameplay experience in exciting ways. For now, enjoy the friendly competition and keep an eye out for new enhancements.
