One of the most anticipated revelations this year for Nintendo Switch enthusiasts was the introduction of the iconic Batman: Arkham trilogy. However, fans would have to muster a tad more patience as the trilogy’s launch on the platform faces a delay.
Original Plans Altered
Earlier in the year, Rocksteady Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros. Games stirred excitement among the gaming community by announcing that the Batman: Arkham trilogy would be coming to the Nintendo Switch in autumn. Originally slated for a mid-October release, the trilogy’s debut has been pushed to December.
A Slight Twist in the Tale
In an interesting turn of events, Batman: Arkham Origins won’t be part of this bundle. This particular title wasn’t developed by Rocksteady Studios but by the creative minds at Warner Bros. Games Montreal, the team behind Gotham Knights. The shift in launch dates was communicated with an emphasis on ensuring an optimized experience for the Nintendo Switch players. The developers expressed their intent, stating, “More time is needed to bring players the best possible experience on Nintendo Switch. We apologise to fans who are excited to play this version of the trilogy. Thank you for your patience.”
What’s Included in the Bundle?
The big reveal during the Nintendo Direct in June highlighted the titles that would be a part of this bundle. Players can look forward to diving into Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight. And, if that wasn’t enticing enough, the package also includes all the downloadable content (DLC) for these games.
A Trip Down Memory Lane
Rocksteady’s association with Nintendo isn’t new. While the Arkham series is making its debut on the Nintendo Switch, Rocksteady had previously partnered with Nintendo for a special edition of Arkham City on the Wii U.
For those unfamiliar with the titles in the trilogy, here’s a brief overview:
- Batman: Arkham Asylum: The narrative unfolds within the confines of the Arkham Asylum, providing players with an intense, immersive experience.
- Batman: Arkham City: Expanding the playing field, this title allows players to traverse the vast landscape of Gotham City.
- Batman: Arkham Knight: In addition to the intriguing storyline and gameplay, this installment introduced the Batmobile as a pivotal component of the gaming experience.
In Conclusion
The Batman Arkham Trilogy promises to be a thrilling addition to the Nintendo Switch’s game library. Whether players are revisiting Gotham as the Dark Knight or stepping into Batman’s shoes for the first time, an unforgettable gaming journey awaits.
