A Genshin Impact fan has created an interesting chart detailing when each character last appeared in the game. Genshin Impact had a total of 21 characters at the start, but this number has steadily grown as players travel across the continent of Teyvat. Recently, Fontaine has added 17 new characters to this list, and despite this growing roster, the new characters are still finding their niche as favorites in the community.
The Challenges That Come With a Large Roster
However, one of the major drawbacks of such a large character roster is that some Genshin Impact characters can take over a year to appear again. This is especially true for Event Banners, as seen with Eula and more recently Nilou. Similarly, due to the linear progression of the main story, older characters are often limited to flagship events, except for a few cameo appearances.
To highlight this problem, a dedicated Genshin Impact fan has compiled a comprehensive chart detailing the last appearance of every playable character. Not surprisingly, Emilie, Tighnari, and Collei top the list, as the trio most recently appeared in Emilie’s Story Quest in Version 4.8. Meanwhile, Summertide Scales and Tales allowed for multiple character cameos, as befits Genshin Impact’s summer events. However, despite appearing alongside Emilie in Version 4.8’s Event Banners, Yelan hasn’t made a story appearance since Version 3.4 in January 2023.
Genshin Impact: Which Characters Had Which Appearances When?
Another example of this is Bennett, who is one of Genshin Impact’s strongest 4-Star characters, and his last appearance was in Version 3.5. Since then, he has appeared three times in Event Banners, and is set to appear for the fourth time in Version 5.0. In contrast, Shenhe and Ganyu played a major role in Version 4.4 and also received premium outfits, but more than a year has passed since their last banner appearance.
Special Challenge for New Players
While new Genshin Impact players may not feel the difference in when the last time a character appeared, they are facing a different type of challenge. For example, players who begin the journey to Teyvat after Version 3.4 may have never seen Xinyan in Genshin Impact, as he has no part in any permanent content, such as Hangouts or Story Quests. This problem may be deepening as the community looks towards Natlan and its colorful characters.
Final Thoughts
The growing diversity of Genshin Impact’s character roster has made the game even more exciting, but it also presents challenges. As new characters are added, it will be interesting to see how and when old characters are brought back. This chart is not only informative for fans of the game, but it also highlights what changes are happening over time in the evolving universe of Genshin Impact.
