A fan believes they have discovered these starter Pokémon in an Advent calendar. The Pokémon TCG Holiday Calendar was released on August 23, containing several fun surprises to open during the month of December. One Reddit user claimed they purchased and opened their Advent Calendar early, and reported that the covers of the Fun Packs had images of Gen-2 Water starter Totodile, Gen-4 Grass starter Turtwig, and Gen-7 Fire starter Litten. This fan claims that these three Pokémon will be the starters for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and shared some interesting references for this theory.

Three-card Fun Packs are not common for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, as most booster packs contain 10 cards. While looking at the covers of previous Fun Packs, this Pokémon fan discovered Astral Radiance Fun Packs, which had images of Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil on the covers—the starters for Pokémon Legends: Arceus. However, the Astral Radiance card line was released on May 27, 2022, which came about four months after the launch of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, so the reason for those three starter Pokémon being featured together was already justified.
