Gunfire Games, the developers behind the much-acclaimed Remnant series, have successfully fixed the DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) issue for the PC Game Pass version of Remnant 2. This development follows the unexpected shadow drop of both Remnant 2 and its predecessor, Remnant: From the Ashes, on Game Pass last week.
The DLSS Issue and Its Resolution
Initially, players encountered a perplexing issue where DLSS, alongside AMD FSR and Intel XeSS upscaling, wasn’t functioning correctly on the PC version of the game. Recognizing the problem, Gunfire Games swiftly addressed it, stating on X (formerly known as Twitter), “We’re aware that DLSS is not currently available on PC Game Pass version of the game. Also, FSR and XeSS are not working correctly either. We hope to have a fix soon!”
Fortunately, the issue has now been rectified, ensuring a smoother and more visually appealing gaming experience for PC players through the Game Pass.
Crossplay, Cloud Saves, and Cross Purchases
Alongside the DLSS fix, Gunfire Games clarified some critical aspects of Remnant 2 on Game Pass, particularly regarding crossplay and cloud saves. They confirmed that crossplay between PC and Xbox is operational, and cloud saves are seamlessly integrated between the Windows Store (PC) and Xbox. Furthermore, purchases made on one platform are shared with the other, allowing players who buy DLC to access it on both Xbox and the Windows Store version.
Remnant 2’s Gaming Experience
Remnant 2, built on the Unreal Engine 5, boasts an impressive level of detail in its environments, leveraging Epic’s Nanite technology to reduce pop-in issues. However, the game’s visual presentation is not without its inconsistencies. Character models appear dated, and certain regions, such as the swampy Yaesha area, can feel overly cluttered and less visually appealing.
Technical challenges were also noted in the PS5 version, with fluctuating FPS in both Balanced and Performance modes. The 30fps Quality mode offers a more stable experience, albeit at a lower native resolution, detracting slightly from the sharp, high-end graphics expected from current-gen titles. The PC version, too, has not been immune to these performance issues.
Final Thoughts
The resolution of the DLSS issue for PC Game Pass users marks a significant step in enhancing the overall gaming experience in Remnant 2. This fix, along with the existing features like crossplay and cloud saves, solidifies Remnant 2’s position as a notable title in the realm of PC gaming.
