Sony’s PlayStation Acquired Bungie And Made a $3.7 Billion Dollar Deal
Bungie, one of the leading video gaming companies that have created popular games like the Destiny series, Halo series, and Oni is now acquired by the Japanese company Sony. Bungie was founded in 1991, and since then, are producing video games for gaming consoles and PC. The Halo Series created by Bungie has always been one of the most popular games on the market. Bungie’s first game, ‘Operation Desert Storm, along with the games that followed, such as Minotaur, Marathon series, Myth, Oni, and the successful Halo series, have been well received by audiences and critics.
When it comes to the development plans for Destiny, the team has hinted at a big easter egg. It cannot keep the excitement of fans contained and they are thrilled to see the future of Bungie with Sony, the manufacturer of leading home consoles, PlayStation will now release the games by Bungie as well. PlayStation has created quite a buzz around it since its launch. Sony launched the PlayStation consoles in the early 90s and according to a survey conducted in 2021, they have a 64.5% market share in the world. Recently, Sony acquired Bungie for $3.7 billion. Fans are eagerly anticipating what the company will announce on its Twitter account. The post by PlayStation on Twitter says, “The agreement to acquire Bungie has closed. So now we can officially say… welcome to the PlayStation family, @Bungie!”
According to a few reports, the deals made by Sony seem to be working in their favor. The stock price of Sony has increased to 4.5%. The event occurred after Sony wholeheartedly welcomed Bungie to their team.
Is Bungie’s game Playstation Exclusive?
So, now we will see all Bungie’s games available on Sony’s PlayStation. Additionally, the company will independently create and publish video games for fans. However, the support and acquisition from Sony, are definitely going to put Bungie in the number one spot. The reason is that Sony’s PlayStation is a huge hit among the public. Its massive success will ultimately benefit Bungie.
Another good news for gaming enthusiasts is that together, Sony and Bungie are planning to launch 26 games by the year 2026. All single-player and multiplayer games will be available on PlayStation in the coming years.
It is not wrong to say that the whopping 3.7 billion dollar deal will prove beneficial for both Bungie and Sony in the future. With this deal, fans will have unlimited access to content and entertainment.
