Major Changes to Amazon Luna
Amazon is shaking up its Luna cloud gaming service by removing access to individual games and third-party subscriptions, effective June 10, 2026. This decision comes with only two months' notice, meaning any purchases made before April 10 will no longer be playable through the platform.
Previously, Luna allowed players to link their accounts with various subscription services like EA and Ubisoft, as well as individual game stores such as GOG. However, Amazon is shifting its focus to its own subscription offerings, stating that it aims to provide 'easy access to great games' and a steady flow of new content.
As part of this transition, users will no longer be able to make a-la-carte game purchases. Amazon has clarified that all prior purchases will remain playable until June 10, 2026, after which they will be removed from users' libraries. This change eliminates the 'Bring Your Own Library' feature, which allowed players to stream games from other platforms.
Additionally, both Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games subscriptions through Luna will be discontinued, with active subscriptions set to cancel at the end of their current billing cycles. Users are advised to manage these subscriptions to avoid unintended renewals.
While players retain access to their games on other platforms, they will no longer be able to stream them via Luna. Amazon also recommends downloading save data, which can be retained for 90 days after the service changes take effect. However, compatibility with other gaming services is not guaranteed.
Amazon's Luna was relaunched with a new design last year and expanded to the UK in 2023, but this latest shakeup raises questions about the service's future and its ability to compete in the crowded gaming market.
