The quest “Further Into The Unknown” is a part of Starfield’s main storyline. Following the completion of the “Starborn” quest, players will find themselves embroiled in a search for Artifacts in two distinct locations: Tau Ceti and Magreth. This guide aims to offer a thorough understanding of the quest’s various components, from tracking down Artifacts to overcoming adversaries.

The Quest’s Origin: Starting with Vladimir

After wrapping up the “Starborn” quest, Vladimir provides new leads to follow. Specifically, Artifact clues for Tau Ceti and the planet Magreth are your next objectives. The objective is clear: procure these Artifacts for further study and action.

Tau Ceti: Locating Artifact Theta

Arrival and Landing Zone

First on the list is Tau Ceti. You’ll want to grav jump to this system and head for Tau Ceti VIII-d, a moon orbiting Tau Ceti VIII. Your landing destination is the Abandoned Cryo Lab.

Confronting Ecliptic Enemies

Upon arrival, expect to face low-level Ecliptic enemies. After neutralizing these adversaries, your next course of action is to enter the frozen underground facility.

Navigating the Abandoned Cryo Lab

The lab itself is an elaborate setup of hallways and junctions. At the first main junction, you’ll notice a vent to your left and a hallway to your right. Opt for the right pathway first, where you’ll find a deceased scientist and some health items.

Engaging More Enemies

Heading back to the vent, you’ll spot a room containing additional Ecliptic enemies. Engage them in combat, taking note of the gas cylinders in the room. Shooting these cylinders will trigger ice crystal explosions, which can be advantageous for you.

Key Collection and Utility

Continuing through the facility, you’ll arrive at a cafeteria area and find doors requiring a Cryogen Research Lab Key. This key can be found later in the facility, specifically next to an open elevator shaft, along with a data slate titled, “Final Report.” This key allows you to unlock secure access doors that you encountered earlier.

Retrieving Artifact Theta

Your quest culminates in the discovery of gravitational anomalies and Caelumite, indicators of an Artifact’s presence. However, a level 30 Starborn adversary attempts to ambush you. Defeating the Starborn allows you to extract Artifact Theta.

Journey to Magreth: Obtaining Artifact Tau

Reaching Hillside Cave

Following Tau Ceti, set course for the barren planet Magreth in the Narion System. Your landing target is the Hillside Cave, which requires a small trek from your landing point.

Traversing Hillside Cave

The Hillside Cave is notably less populated by enemies. However, watch out for Turret MK1s. These turrets can be identified by their red laser sights.

Acquiring Artifact Tau

Follow a triangle-shaped path and jump down to an open area. Here you’ll find the Artifact. Like in Tau Ceti, you will be ambushed by a level 30 Starborn, whom you must defeat to obtain Artifact Tau.

Conclusion: Return to Constellation

After acquiring both Artifacts, return to Alpha Centauri and submit them to the Constellation team. Vladimir will then initiate a conversation, marking the end of “Further Into The Unknown” and the commencement of the next quest, “Short Sighted.” You will earn experience points, three Amps, and 9000 credits as rewards for completing the quest.

By following this walkthrough, players will find themselves better equipped to tackle the intricacies of “Further Into The Unknown,” enhancing their overall Starfield experience.
