Fresh Content for Cairn

Just when you thought you might get a moment to give your arms a rest, developer The Game Bakers has unveiled On the Trail, a series of free DLC releases for climbing hit Cairn set to begin this summer.

Cairn follows the adventures of professional climber Aava as she begins her ascent of the perilous Mount Kami. This journey takes players through a beautifully crafted near-future landscape filled with meticulously framed vistas and dizzyingly vertiginous drops. The game offers a soothing backdrop for what is, in reality, a surprisingly challenging experience.

Progress unfolds across various plateaus, each presenting a new rock face to tackle as players hunt for a navigable route hidden among the mountain's many ledges and crevices. You'll begin your careful ascent, inching up one limb at a time. For those with a more measured approach, the incoming content promises to enhance the climbing experience.

The first DLC, titled Deep Water, will introduce three new climbing locations and fresh challenges. Players will follow in the footsteps of a legendary climber, adding depth to the gameplay. As its name suggests, Deep Water is an aquatically themed update that introduces water soloing.

So, what exactly is water soloing? The Game Bakers explains that players can now climb over water without the fear of plummeting to their death. This adds a new layer of excitement and strategy to the climbing experience. Additionally, fellow climber Marco will be added as a playable character, enriching the game’s diversity and gameplay options.

Cairn's free On the Trail DLC is set to arrive this summer, bringing fresh content to both new and returning players. With its kinder, more generous approach to difficulty, Cairn remains a standout title in the climbing genre.
