Hades 2
After previously only being on Nintendo Switch and Windows PC, Hades 2 arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X this week. Players can now explore all that Supergiant's top-tier roguelike offers. Instead of playing as Hades' Zagreus, you take control of his sister, Melinoë, as she ventures into the depths of the Underworld to save papa Hades and the rest of her family. She wields a variety of witchy weapons while receiving boons from the Greek Gods that return with even more strengths. It's the best roguelike around, creating a never-ending desire for one more run.
Absolum
If you think there aren't many new ways to make a beat-'em-up, Absolum is worth trying. This fantasy brawler looks like your typical arcade sidescroller, playing like one too. You move right, pummel enemies, and survive a fierce boss at the end of each level. The twist is that it's also a roguelike where you reshape your fighter with perks each run. While it may not be the cleanest genre mash-up, it works surprisingly well thanks to alternate pathways filled with hidden secrets.
Starfield
April is a big month for space games, and Starfield joins the fun with a significant update aimed at addressing previous criticisms. Players can now fly between planets seamlessly, enhancing the space-faring adventure with Bethesda DNA. Although the main story may not be groundbreaking, the freedom to explore space remains the biggest appeal. Sometimes, the best way to spend an afternoon is simply flying around the galaxy and chilling at your asteroid base.
