Editorial Standards

We believe gaming journalism should be honest, independent, and reader-first. Here's exactly how we operate.

Independence

TheBadGamer's editorial decisions are made independently of our advertising relationships. Advertisers have no influence over review scores, coverage choices, or editorial content. A game that buys an ad gets the same critical treatment as one that doesn't.

Review process

All reviews are written by staff who have completed the game or spent significant time with it. Scores are assigned on a 10-point scale. We accept review copies from publishers but always disclose when a game was provided for review. We never review unfinished games without labelling them as early-access impressions.

Corrections policy

When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted inline in the article. We do not silently edit factual mistakes.

Sponsored content

Any paid editorial content — including sponsored articles, advertorials, and native advertising — is clearly labelled "Sponsored" at the top of the piece. Sponsored content is never produced by our news or reviews team.

Conflicts of interest

Staff members do not write about games, studios, or publishers where a personal or financial conflict of interest exists. We disclose any prior or current relationships that could affect coverage.

Sources

We name sources wherever possible. Anonymous sources are used only when there is a genuine reason for confidentiality and the information can be verified through at least one other means.
