About World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is developed by Blizzard and available on PC. The game has seen numerous updates and expansions since its launch, continuously evolving with its player base.

Patch 12.0.5 Issues

Blizzard released the Decor Duel mode with patch 12.0.5, initially announced back in January. Unfortunately, the launch was marred by numerous bugs, prompting Blizzard to apologize for releasing the patch in a less-than-ideal state. The studio acknowledged that the patch was not up to their standards, stating, "We will do better."

One major issue involved an exploit using the track humanoids ability, allowing seekers to pinpoint the exact location of hiders, which undermined the challenge of the Decor Duel mode. Additionally, hiders faced frustrations as they missed out on rewards if they didn't move enough while hiding, leading to complaints about the forced movement design. These elements detracted from the intended fun and challenge of the mode.

Hotfixes and Community Response

In response to the backlash, Blizzard has been quick to deploy hotfixes to address some of these critical issues. According to the studio, they are committed to improving their communication regarding known issues and fixes as they roll out. This proactive approach aims to restore player confidence in the development team.

As Kotaku's Rebecca Valentine pointed out, the problems with the patch extend beyond just these two issues, reflecting a need for Blizzard to reassess their testing and launch protocols. While players hope for a swift resolution, the recent experiences have sparked discussions about the importance of thorough testing before any major update.
