Epic Games have announced they will honour refunds for cosmetics related to D4vd, following the singer's recent charge with murder. Players can request refunds for these items through Fortnite support starting April 28th, when a self-service refund option becomes available. This decision comes after the serious allegations against D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, have raised significant concerns among the player community.
Burke faces serious charges, including the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. He pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Hernandez's dismembered remains were discovered on September 8th, 2025, in a vehicle linked to Burke. The shocking nature of these events has understandably led many players to question the appropriateness of D4vd-themed items in the game.
Epic Games responded to player concerns on social media, stating,
. Players who purchased D4vd's cosmetics can currently initiate refund requests through Fortnite support, with the self-service option launching on April 28th. This proactive measure reflects Epic's awareness of player sentiment and their willingness to address it promptly. We hear the concerns. We have a bunch of changes we’re rolling out over time. The first one will be available on Tuesday April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund. And, right now, players who request refunds for D4vd cosmetics via player support can be refunded.
D4vd's Locker Bundle, which debuted last April as part of Chapter 6: Season 2, featured various in-game items inspired by the artist. Burke's music has also been included in Fortnite as Jam Tracks, including an official anthem titled 'Locked and Loaded'. In the past, Epic has removed or altered Fortnite add-ons in response to real-life events, although few have been as disturbing as this situation.
