A Revival Leads the Show
Two decades after its last video game outing, Hunter: The Reckoning is back. Nacon announced Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish, a new entry based on the tabletop RPG, targeting summer 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It’s a rare resurrection that immediately set a confident tone for the showcase.
Ryu Ga Gotoku’s long-teased Stranger than Heaven also resurfaced with a platform confirmation for Xbox Series X/S. The studio describes an “epic saga of men battling through five eras and five cities,” bridging a timeline jump from 1915 to 1943, and hinting at open-world exploration with real-time combat. There’s still no release date, but it remains one of the lineup’s most intriguing unknowns.
Fresh Shooters, Fresh Worlds
Serious Sam: Shatterverse marks the series’ loud return. Croteam calls it a “co-op roguelite FPS” for one to five players, flinging squads through shifting universes while they juggle boons and modifiers to take down Mental’s nastiest forces. It hits Xbox Series X/S later in 2026, and it sounds like the kind of chaos fans expect—now with run-based hooks.
Alien Deathstorm is the new sci-fi horror FPS from Atomfall studio Rebellion. Set on a devastated off-world colony battered by a cataclysmic mega-storm—and overrun by bloodthirsty extraterrestrials—it’s slated for Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2027. Expect a survival-forward spin on action horror, with the storm itself framing every encounter.
On the quieter end, Annapurna Interactive unveiled Forever Ago, a “heartfelt” road trip adventure from Third Shift. You play Alfred, traveling north after a personal tragedy, using an instant camera to make sense of the people and places he meets. Scored by Slay the Spire 2 composer Clark Aboud, it’s due this autumn on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch 2, and PC.
Dates to Circle in 2026
Sixteen years after its notorious debut, Team Meat’s series makes the jump to 3D. Super Meat Boy 3D locks in March 31, 2026 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch 2, and PC. Expect the same precision platforming in a new perspective, with the difficulty dial set where veterans like it.
Fans of oddball genre mashups got a standout surprise in Grave Seasons, a cosy farming sim with a supernatural serial killer lurking in the town of Ashenridge. Between tending crops and building relationships, you’ll investigate murders and try to survive long enough to unmask the culprit. Developed by Perfect Garbage and published by Blumhouse Games, it launches on Xbox Series X/S on August 14, 2026.
Ascend to Zero brings a sharp hook to the action-roguelike space: time itself. Flyway Games asks, “Have you ever wondered what it feels like to stop time?” and builds its pitch around a “time-bending” combat loop. You start with “just 30 seconds,” freeze fights, steal time from enemies, and rocket through breakneck builds. It hits Xbox Series X/S, Game Pass, and PC on July 13, 2026.
Frog Sqwad aims straight at chaotic couch-night energy. Up to eight players swing through sewer systems using their tongues, solve physics puzzles, and chase “unpredictable” objectives in an ever-changing underground world. It arrives on Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass in June 2026.
AdHoc’s acclaimed superhero workplace comedy Dispatch is finally headed to Xbox Series X/S this summer. If you missed its earlier run, this is a second chance to catch its smart writing and ensemble cast on Microsoft’s console.
Ports and Longer Looks
After its debut on PS5 and PC, Kuro Games’ free-to-play, open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves will land on Xbox Series X/S in July 2026. It brings the gacha-driven grind, skill-based combat, and sweeping exploration that built its audience on other platforms.
Owlcat offered a clearer timetable for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, its Mass Effect-style spin on the TV and novel universe. The studio is targeting spring 2027, with a closed beta demo launching next month for players who pre-purchase the pricier editions. The paywalled beta won’t thrill everyone, but at least there’s a fresh trailer to study while the wait stretches into next year.
Xbox’s March showcase stacked the board with variety: a classic revival, roguelite shooters, narrative road trips, and an indie that turns cosy farming into a murder mystery. Game Pass continues to matter, too, with Ascend to Zero and Frog Sqwad joining the subscription from day one. July already looks busy, and 2027’s shaping up with Hunter and The Expanse on the horizon. If Microsoft keeps handing the mic to partners through the year, expect another round of concrete dates—and hopefully deeper gameplay blowouts—by the summer events window.
