Major Sales Milestone Achieved

Frostpunk, the frozen city-building survival series, has reached an impressive milestone, surpassing 11 million sales across both the original game and its sequel, Frostpunk 2. This announcement was made by 11 Bit Studios, the game's developer, in a recent update. Game director Łukasz Juszczyk expressed his amazement, stating, "Seeing 11m brave the frost: it's just unreal." He added that the team never anticipated such a widespread impact when they launched the first title in 2018.

Exciting New Content on the Horizon

The franchise update video provided a sneak peek at the next major DLC for Frostpunk 2, titled Breach of Trust, set to release on June 23. This expansion introduces a volcanic eruption that alters the way players interact with heat, a critical resource in the game. As Juszczyk noted, "In Breach of Trust, the heat is no longer your salvation: it might just be your downfall." Players can expect fresh gameplay mechanics and an evocative story, making this DLC a significant addition to the Frostpunk universe.

More DLC and Remake News

Beyond Breach of Trust, the team hinted at another upcoming expansion, the Surge DLC, which is mentioned on the game's roadmap. While details are scarce, it promises to build on the foundations laid by the previous titles. Additionally, a remake of the original game, titled Frostpunk 1886, is in the works. This version will feature a new Purpose upgrade path focused on community strength, along with enhanced visuals and new explorable areas.

Switch Version and Other Announcements

Fans of Frostpunk can also look forward to a Nintendo Switch version of the first game, although no release date has been confirmed yet. The game is already available on several platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, and PC, where it has been well-received for its translation of the city-building experience.

Expanding the Frostpunk Universe

In addition to game updates, 11 Bit Studios announced the development of a Frostpunk comic, created by Rocketship and written by Justin Jordan, with illustrations by Ryan Benjamin. Moreover, a recent Frostpunk LARP event in Poland showcased the community's engagement with the franchise. Participants braved the cold to immerse themselves in the experience, which, according to attendees, was a rewarding adventure.

Looking Ahead

Frostpunk continues to evolve, offering new challenges and experiences for players. With the upcoming DLC and remake, along with the Switch version, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down. As players prepare for the next chapter in this harsh, frozen world, excitement builds for what lies ahead, particularly how the new mechanics will challenge established strategies and storytelling in the series.
