Upcoming Star Wars project
Marvel Studios has officially confirmed a Ghost Rider film starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, with a planned 2028 release. The announcement was made during the studio's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con 2026, where both Gosling and Levy appeared on stage to discuss the project.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is now available on PVOD platforms following a theatrical run that grossed $344 million against a $165 million budget. The film marks the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars movie to date and earned mixed reviews, with IGN giving it a 5/10 and Rotten Tomatoes settling at 60%.
A scrapped Star Wars TV series, conceived by George Lucas, would have explored Emperor Palpatine's ascent to power in a narrative likened to Adolf Hitler's rise. Actor Ian McDiarmid, who portrayed Palpatine, shared insights into the project, which was discussed with him directly by Lucas. The series, potentially part of the long-gestating "Star Wars Underworld" concept, never progressed due to ambitious scope and high costs.
Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to be the first new Star Wars movie in theaters for a generation, debuting May 22.
