About Pulsar

Pulsar is known for its innovative gaming peripherals, primarily focusing on lightweight gaming mice. However, their latest offering, the 500-gram mouse, known as the CrazyHeavy, started as an April Fools' Day joke. Only 20 units were made available to the public, and it targets PC gamers looking for something out of the ordinary.

CrazyHeavy Features and Specifications

The CrazyHeavy features the XS01 sensor, capable of a DPI of up to 32,000, and a tracking speed of 750 IPS. Moreover, it boasts an impressive polling rate of up to 8,000 Hz. Despite its ludicrous weight, the mouse is designed to function adequately for gaming, albeit with some limitations.

Performance Assessment

YouTuber Boardzy tested the CrazyHeavy and found that while it "looks obviously extremely sluggish," it is still usable in practice. Boardzy's unit weighed in at 485 grams, slightly less than the advertised weight, which he attributed to possible scale inaccuracies. Unfortunately, the wireless mode in his model did not function as intended, which could deter some users.

Community Reaction and Comparisons

Boardzy commented on the mouse's density, stating, "It is pretty incredible how dense this is. It really could be used as a brute force training method." He compared the experience of using the CrazyHeavy to a 30-gram mouse, explaining that transitioning to lighter models in the 60-70 gram range would feel like a relief afterward. He specifically noted that the Razer Viper V4 Pro felt hollow after using the CrazyHeavy.

Critiques and Usability

Despite its unique design, the CrazyHeavy does have downsides. Boardzy warned that excessive use could lead to wrist strain, especially during gaming sessions. He remarked, "When I take my hand off it when I was testing it, my wrist would crack." Ultimately, he concluded, "I'm likely never going to use this again, but it will make a good paper weight." This statement encapsulates the mixed feelings surrounding the mouse's functionality.
