PS5 Pro Leads The Charge

Argos has cut the price of the PS5 Pro to £639.99 as part of its Big Red Event, a straight £60 off the £699.99 RRP. That’s the headline discount in a sale that also trims prices across PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo hardware, with a long list of games and accessories in the mix as well.

Sony’s upgraded console has quickly shown its worth with recent releases. “Crimson Desert” and “Resident Evil Requiem” showcase how cleanly new titles can run on the Pro, and the performance gap over the base system is getting harder to ignore. If you’re targeting high frame rates and sharper image quality without tinkering on a PC, this is the easy route.

The price-to-performance case is strong when you cross-shop with computers. Building a PC that can deliver similar results today would “likely push well past £1,500,” especially with component and memory costs on the rise. Against that backdrop, £639.99 for what remains “the most powerful console on the market” reads well.

Big releases are also lining up. With “Grand Theft Auto 6” set to land in November, grabbing hardware that can run the generation’s biggest games at their best makes sense. It isn’t cheap, but the Pro’s balance of speed, stability, and features feels built for the next few years of blockbuster launches.

Should You Wait For PS6?

Plenty of shoppers are asking that question. Based on how long this generation took to hit its stride and ongoing memory costs, a successor doesn’t appear imminent. A new box inside the next two to three years looks unlikely. Even when it does arrive, history says publishers won’t abandon a large PS5 audience right away.

Expect a gradual handover. A cross-gen period of “three to five years” after a new console launches wouldn’t surprise anyone who watched PS4’s long tail. In short, buying into the Pro now looks “a fairly safe bet” if you want to enjoy current and near-future releases without worrying about a rapid pivot.

Promo Codes Worth Using

Argos has layered in promo codes that cut extra pounds off select items: use GAMING10, GAMING20, or GAMING30 for 10%, 20%, or 30% off, respectively, where eligible. The best part is how far those codes stretch on already reduced picks.

One standout is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on PS5, which drops to £26.39 with GAMING20. That’s a sharp fall for a recent CoD, and a good excuse to jump into Zombies with friends. The campaign may split opinion, but Zombies in BO7 is “surprisingly great,” and the price sweetens the deal if you’ve been on the fence.

Microsoft’s pads are also getting love. The Xbox Wireless Controller – Heartbreak Purple Special Edition – is down to £44.99 from a £74.99 RRP, and it’s a slick colorway in person. Standard Xbox controllers start from £39.99, with several other shades from £42.99. If you game on PC and console, that versatility still makes Xbox’s pad an easy pick.

Accessories And Other Hardware Deals

Beyond the headline console cut, there’s a tidy PlayStation 5 (Slim) + WWE 2K26 bundle that folds in an extra £20 in savings. On the Xbox side, the Series X has £30 off, while Nintendo fans can grab the Switch Lite for £189.99.

Headsets and furniture see meaningful reductions as well. The Turtle Beach Stealth 500 wireless headset for Xbox and PC falls to £55.99 with GAMING30, which is excellent value for a multi-platform wireless can. If you’re refreshing the setup around your rig, there’s 10% off the Trust GXT 700 Omnius Gaming Desk and 20% off the X Rocker Alpha Gaming Chair during the event.

As always with promo codes, availability and eligibility vary by item. Think of the codes as “stackers” that can push already decent discounts into no-brainer territory. It pays to try GAMING10/20/30 at checkout on anything you’re eyeing.

Spring deals don’t usually hit this hard, which makes the current window appealing if you’ve been waiting on a meaningful PS5 Pro cut or a fresh controller. Watch for stock swings on the hottest picks and keep those codes handy. If this is a sign of where pricing heads as GTA 6 approaches and holiday inventory builds, we could be in for an unusually competitive year on hardware and accessories.
