PlayStation Store September 2026 Charts: Marvel's Wolverine and EA Sports FC 27 Split Regional Crowns

PlayStation has published its monthly download rankings for September 2026, covering PS5, PS4, PS VR2, and free-to-play titles across the US/Canada and EU regions. The data reveals a stark transatlantic split at the top of the PS5 charts, with Marvel's Wolverine claiming the number one position in North America while EA Sports FC 27 sits atop the European leaderboard. For players tracking platform momentum, the split underscores how regional tastes still shape the commercial landscape even for global blockbusters.

The rankings arrive as the holiday release window approaches, giving developers and publishers a final snapshot of player interest before the year's biggest launches. Sony notes that product naming may differ between regions and that upgrades or hardware bundles are excluded from the figures. Anyone deciding what to play next or which communities will be most active in the coming weeks should pay close attention to these lists.

PS5 Charts Show Clear Regional Divide

In the US and Canada, Marvel's Wolverine debuted at the top of the PS5 download chart, pushing EA Sports FC 27 to second place. The superhero action title from Insomniac Games clearly resonated with North American audiences, while the football simulator settled for the runner-up spot. NBA 2K27 rounded out the top three in that region, suggesting sports titles still command massive audiences but couldn't overcome the Wolverine launch wave.

Europe told a different story entirely. EA Sports FC 27 claimed the top position on PS5, with Marvel's Wolverine sliding to second. The Blood of Dawnwalker appeared third in the EU, while it sat fourth in North America behind NBA 2K27. This flip highlights how football's cultural dominance in Europe translates directly to download volume, whereas superhero IP carries more weight across the Atlantic. For matchmaking and community health, players should expect larger lobbies in EA Sports FC 27 on EU servers and more active Wolverine co-op sessions in North America.

PS VR2 and Free-to-Play Rankings

PS VR2 charts showed rare consensus across both regions. I Am Cat secured the top spot in both US/Canada and EU, marking a strong showing for the feline simulation title. Beat Saber and Pavlov swapped the second and third positions between territories, with Beat Saber taking second in North America and Pavlov claiming that spot in Europe. Horizon Call of the Mountain held fourth in the US but dropped to fifth in the EU behind Job Simulator.

The free-to-play category produced the most surprising result. Call of Duty: Warzone led in the US and Canada as expected, but a new entrant named Aniimo topped the EU chart. Fortnite, Roblox, and Once Human filled out the top five in both regions but in different orders. Marvel Rivals, Rocket League, and eFootball also appeared across both lists. Aniimo's sudden rise in Europe suggests a regional marketing push or community-driven surge that hasn't yet crossed the Atlantic.

PS4 Charts Reflect Legacy Favorites

On PS4, Red Dead Redemption 2 continued its remarkable longevity by topping the US/Canada chart, while EA Sports FC 27 led in Europe. Call of Duty: Black Ops III sat second in North America, with Red Dead Redemption 2 taking that position in the EU. Batman: Arkham Knight, Gang Beasts, and Call of Duty: WWII rounded out the top five in both regions but shuffled order. The persistence of titles like Minecraft, God of War, and The Witcher 3 across both lists demonstrates how the PS4 library remains active even as the install base migrates to PS5.

Sony usually drops these charts once a month, which means the October list will show up in early November. That release timing gives the charts a chance to capture the buzz from the latest big fall titles.
