In the dynamic world of gaming, CD Projekt Red has emerged with exhilarating news concerning the development surge for the highly anticipated title, The Witcher 4. This shift in focus has been meticulously planned to coincide with the release of the upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. Let us dissect this development in a detailed manner, focusing on the redistribution of resources and the implications it holds for the future projects of the company.
The Witcher 4 Codenamed Polaris: A Development Overview
As the gaming community holds its breath, CD Projekt Red has announced a significant enhancement in the development resources for their next big project: The Witcher 4, codenamed Polaris. This expansion in the development team is set to occur post the release of the much-awaited expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, slated for release later this month.
Adam Kiciński, the President and CEO of the company, shared this strategic move during the recent earnings call. According to him, a substantial section of the development team currently engaged with the Phantom Liberty project will transition to work on Polaris, augmenting the already 250-strong team. However, this transition is a phased approach, with some members continuing to lend support to ongoing projects like Orion and Hadar, alongside sustaining Phantom Liberty.
Furthermore, Kiciński indicated that the company is concurrently undergoing a gradual process of parting with some team members, an activity projected to conclude by the first quarter of next year. The precise dynamics of the development team structure post this realignment will be disclosed in the third quarter financial update, scheduled for November 28.
Projected Timeline and Framework for Other Titles
Aside from focusing on the development of The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red is not resting on its laurels. The company has divulged plans on a series of projects poised to capture the imagination of the gaming fraternity in the coming years.
