Changes to Expeditions
Embark Studios has announced significant changes to how Skill Points are earned during the upcoming Expedition Window, which launches on 28th April and closes on 4th May. According to the developers, "Skill Points will be earned by dealing damage over the five-day window, NOT stash value." This shift means players must focus on dealing damage to earn all five Skill Points available per Expedition.
The developers explained that the previous system of gathering stash value was not engaging enough. They stated, "We know that grinding for monetary value isn't the most exciting experience." Players will now complete a damage challenge, which can be done using any weapon or gadget against any target, excluding practice range.
Catch-Up Mechanic
For those who may have missed Skill Points in previous Expeditions, a catch-up mechanic will be available. Players on their second or third Expedition can catch up by completing the damage challenge first, which will then unlock the ability to earn 300,000 coins or stash value per missed Skill Point. This mechanic is designed to help players stay competitive and engaged throughout the Expedition Window.
