Three New Classics Join the Lineup
The Nintendo Switch Online classic games catalog has received a fresh update, adding three beloved titles, including the ever-popular Pac-Man. Subscribers can now enjoy these retro gems through the Nintendo Classics NES app.
First up is Pac-Man, a game that needs little introduction. Players guide the iconic yellow hero through a maze, chomping on pellets while avoiding colorful ghosts. The thrill of collecting Power Pellets adds an exciting twist, allowing players to turn the tables on their ghostly pursuers. And yes, going for all the fruit is a must!
Next in the lineup is Mendel Palace, a puzzle game that debuted in 1989 from the small team known as Game Freak. This is the same studio that would later become famous for creating Pokémon. In Mendel Palace, players flip panels to fend off enemies and trigger various effects, providing a simpler yet engaging gameplay experience.
Completing the trio is The Tower of Druaga, an action RPG originally released in arcades in 1984. Known for its fantasy elements, the game features knights, wizards, and locked doors, creating mazes reminiscent of Pac-Man. Players must navigate these mazes and reach the top of the tower while overcoming challenges.
Nintendo Switch Online members are in for a treat with this addition. If these titles don’t pique your interest, IGN maintains a comprehensive list of all the available games across various platforms, from Game Boy to GameCube.
In a social media update, Nintendo UK teased the new additions with a playful message: "Prepare to be a-maze-d!" With the inclusion of these classic titles, Nintendo continues to celebrate its rich gaming history while giving players a chance to revisit or discover these iconic games.
With such a diverse range of titles, there’s something for everyone in this update. Whether you’re a fan of fast-paced arcade action or prefer strategic puzzle-solving, these NES classics add significant value to the Nintendo Switch Online experience.
