About Troy Baker

Troy Baker has one of the most prolific voices in gaming. Known for his roles as Joel in The Last Of Us and Slimer in Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Baker is now ready to transition from voice acting to game development. He is set to appear in the upcoming action RPG and shooter, Mouse: P.I. for Hire, where he voices detective Jack Pepper. This game will release in 2024.

New Studio Plans

Baker has expressed interest in starting his own studio, inspired by fellow voice actor Abubakar Salim, who recently launched a studio that produced the metroidvania Tales of Kenzera: Zau. Baker stated, "I’ve had an incredible opportunity working with the best in this industry, it’s insane—Ken Levine, Hideo Kojima, Neil Druckmann, Todd Howard, Vince Zampella—these people are paragons of the industry." He aims to incorporate the successful storytelling principles he has learned from these industry leaders into his future projects.

Quality Over Speed

In discussing his studio timeline, Baker noted, "Somebody asked me in one of those meetings, ‘what’s your timeline?’ and I said ‘not rushed.'" He emphasized the importance of taking his time to ensure that his storytelling meets the high standards set by the games he admires. Baker's commitment to quality is evident as he prepares to embark on this new venture.

Upcoming Projects

While Baker prepares to establish his studio, he remains active in voice acting. He is set to feature in Naughty Dog’s next title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, as well as Ken Levine's upcoming immersive sim, Judas. Despite recent mixed feedback for Mouse: P.I. for Hire from IGN, Baker has taken the criticism in stride, humorously addressing it on social media.
