EA Sports has rolled out a significant update for its popular title, College Football 25, released just a few weeks ago on July 19, 2024. This latest patch, deployed in August 2024, aims to address several gameplay issues and introduce new content that enhances the overall experience. Despite the game’s initial success, with over 2.2 million Deluxe Edition copies sold during the early access period alone, players have reported various balance issues and bugs. EA Sports' response is a comprehensive update that promises to improve and expand multiple game modes, including Dynasty, Road to Glory, and Ultimate Team.

New Gameplay Additions and Adjustments

Enhanced Formations and Player Behavior

One of the most significant additions in this update is the introduction of eight new shotgun formations across 35 teams. These formations include Bunch Quads Open, Deuce Twins Over, Slot F Wing, and more, each providing teams like Texas Tech and Liberty with expanded tactical options. These changes are complemented by fine-tuned pursuit angles, a feature that now better distinguishes between players with varying pursuit ratings, thus adding more realism to defensive plays.

Balancing Abilities

The update also addresses player feedback regarding the overpowered nature of certain abilities. Notably, the Gold and Platinum tiers of the Juke and Spin abilities, such as the 360 and Side Step moves, have been rebalanced. This adjustment likely comes in response to complaints about players like Quinshon Judkins, whose Platinum Tier 360 ability made his character excessively dominant, especially in competitive settings. The Ohio State Buckeyes, in particular, faced bans in some gaming communities due to this imbalance.
