D4vd Emotes Hidden by Default
Epic Games has effectively hidden two in-game emotes featuring music by U.S. singer D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke. The emotes, titled "Feel It" and "Trophy Drop," will no longer be audible to other players by default. Players can still hear them if they manually switch on the "Confrontational Emotes" setting, which Epic introduced to mute some of the game's most toxic emotes.
Refund Options and Community Reaction
As part of these changes, Epic Games has also introduced the ability for owners to manually request a refund for D4vd content. Many fans have been vocal about their desire for Epic to go further, arguing that D4vd's music should be completely removed from the game. This sentiment has been echoed across social media, where players express surprise that D4vd's content remains available.
What Led to These Changes?
21-year-old D4vd was recently charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, allegedly committed on or around April 23, 2025. Burke has pleaded not guilty to several serious charges, including first-degree murder. The situation has prompted a backlash against his content in Fortnite, with many players calling for a complete removal. Epic Games noted that they had heard "the concerns" and are rolling out "a bunch of changes we're rolling out over time," but the future of D4vd's content remains uncertain.
