Xbox Game Pass has just added another gem to its growing library with the inclusion of Core Keeper, a co-op survival game that has already captured the attention of many gamers. Developed by Swedish indie studio Pugstorm, Core Keeper has quickly gained a strong following, earning a "Very Positive" rating on Steam. The game, which launched in early access in 2022, has now fully released as of August 27, 2024, and is available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
What Makes Core Keeper Stand Out?
Core Keeper has been compared to popular titles like Stardew Valley and Valheim, offering a cozy yet challenging survival experience. Set in a mysterious underground world, the game allows players to mine resources, build bases, and explore with friends in a sandbox environment. The game's charm lies in its mix of exploration, crafting, and survival mechanics, all wrapped up in a visually appealing, pixel-art style.
Although currently available on PC and the latest Sony and Microsoft consoles, Pugstorm has announced that Core Keeper will also be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2024. This expansion to older consoles and the Switch is expected to broaden the game's reach even further.
Core Keeper on Xbox Game Pass
For those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or the PC Game Pass, Core Keeper is now available at no extra cost. However, subscribers on the Game Pass Core plan, which focuses on console gaming, will need to upgrade their subscription or purchase the game separately for $19.99.
The inclusion of Core Keeper adds to the variety of titles available on Xbox Game Pass, offering subscribers a chance to explore this unique survival experience alongside other recent additions. This month alone, Mafia: Definitive Edition and Creatures of Ava have also joined the Game Pass lineup, further enhancing the service’s appeal.
