Saturday Night Live Season 52 featured a Weekend Update sketch pitting GTA 6's Jason against The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake's Link in a six-minute gaming showdown. The segment aired October 4, 2026, hosted by Dakota Johnson with musical guest Turnstile and a surprise Taylor Swift cameo. Gaming fans have largely criticized the sketch for relying on outdated stereotypes and a surface-level portrayal of Rockstar's upcoming protagonist.
The open beta's success extended to Steam, where THE FINALS quickly reached its player capacity and secured a peak concurrent player count of 267,874, earning a spot among the platform's top five most-played games. This achievement not only showcases the game's popularity but also demonstrates the demand for a fresh approach to the first-person shooter genre.
While THE FINALS received some criticism for its use of AI voiceovers instead of human voice actors, Embark Studios acknowledges the feedback and is committed to addressing player concerns and improving the overall experience. Also, the developer hasn't announced any specific release date yet, but fans eagerly anticipate the next phase of development, hoping that the game will bring them an unforgettable immersion and experience.
