The Simpsons' 37th Treehouse of Horror episode delivers three solid segments but lacks a true standout, making it the second-best Halloween offering of Season 38. The episode reverts to the traditional anthology format after last week's superior full-length special, "Treehouse of Horror Presents: The Revengening."
The Simpsons' "Treehouse of Horror II" segment, featuring a cursed monkey's paw, has inspired the horror movie Obsession. Legendary writers Al Jean and Mike Reiss share their thoughts on the connection, with Reiss admitting he was "blown away" by the film. The segment's origins trace back to W. W. Jacobs' 1902 short story "The Monkey’s Paw".
